Supervision
Supervision is an essential component of providing quality care to patients. Dr. Ybarra approaches supervision with openness and curiosity, and practices from a relational and attachment-focused psychodynamic orientation. As a BIPOC and queer psychologist, she knows how important understanding and exploring our identity and our patient’s identity is in providing affirming care.
Dr. Ybarra believes that the relationship between supervisee and supervisor is vitally important and provides containment and space for processing and clinical thinking. The dynamics within the supervision space impacts work with patients, and the dynamics within the work with patients also impact the supervisory relationship. These reciprocal relationships provide crucial information to better understand the experience of patients and to better support their growth.
Dr. Ybarra tailors supervisory relationships based on shared goals, needs, and working styles.
